Mark is a partner at Columbia Law & Mediation, PLLC. He attended Law School at Nashville School of Law where he obtained his Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 1993. Prior to obtaining his law degree, he received a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1982.

While attending Law School, was employed as a State Park Ranger at Montgomery Bell State Park in Dickson County, Tennessee from 1983-1993.

Admitted to practice law in the State of Tennessee in 1994. In addition, he was admitted to practice in the U.S. 6th Circuit District Court for the Middle and Western Districts of Tennessee in 1994.

Member of the Tennessee Bar Association as well as the Maury County Bar Association. He has also been a member of the Columbia Noon Rotary Club since 2001.

Primarily practices in the areas of Family Law, Civil Litigation (personal injury, debt collection, landlord/tenant, etc.) and Criminal Defense. In addition, he has completed Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Family Mediation training.

Prior to the formation of Columbia Law and Mediation, Mark was a partner at Tisher, Wolaver, Free, Carter & Lynn, PLLC, Mark worked for Matthews, Tisher & Free in Columbia, TN from September 1994 until June 1999. He then worked for Colley & Colley in Columbia, TN from July 1999 until January 2015.

Cara is a partner at Columbia Law & Mediation, PLLC. Cara is a native of Columbia, TN. After graduating from Spring Hill High School she attended Pepperdine University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Prior to attending law school Cara worked in Washington, D.C. at the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty and then she worked for a year at M. Lee Smith Publishing following legislative actions in the Tennessee State House of Representatives. 

Cara then attended the University of Tennessee College of Law and graduated with an emphasis on advocacy and dispute resolution. She was admitted into the Tennessee Bar in October 2008 and has practiced as an associate attorney at Tisher and Wolaver until February 2015 when she became a partner at Tisher, Wolaver, Free, Carter, & Lynn. In 2022 she opened Columbia Law and Mediation with her partner Mark Free.

Cara specializes in family law and mediation. Her practice is litigation oriented and client focused. 

Cara is married to Ty Cobb.
